Stick Soccer - Introduction

Hello all, and welcome to the tutorial for the newly launched iOS game - Stick Soccer by Stick Sports. If you haven't downloaded it already, you can get it for free HERE on the App Store.

So let's start with the basics of the game. You first login and choose your country. The objective of this game is just to shoot moving footballs into the goal. The World Domination game mode allows you to play for your country, against others in order, starting from Australia (which may vary depending on the country you choose). As you win games, you unlock new teams to play against. The other game mode is Time Attack. Here, you shoot goals and earn points for every goal. You have one minute to accumulate as many points as you can, although you can get time bonuses along the way.

An important fact to remember is that this tutorial depends on which position the team you are playing against is from first, not the team itself. The team varies depending on which country you are playing for. So, if you are looking for the tutorial for defeating Australia in a World Domination, and it is the second team you are playing against, look for the tutorial with the heading containing Team 2, irrespective of which team is mentioned in the heading.

The controls of this game are quite simple. You just watch the ball as it rolls from one side to another, aim your finger on it as it passes across the screen, and drag the ball towards the goal. You can also adjust shot power and curve as you drag your finger. Don't worry if you don't get all of this right now; you'll figure it out soon.

Each game has two halves of 45 minutes each (reduced by a lot in the game), as in a normal soccer game. In each half, you shoot from a different area of the field. I categorize this into two types: short and long. The short area is the area close to the goal and you will mainly require shot power for scoring goals here. The long area is much farther from the goal and the curve of the shot will be needed for scoring goals from here. In fact, the less power you have, the better, while shooting from the long area.

I also categorize each ball by the direction from which it comes - from left and from right. Usually, I recommend shooting in the same direction as the origin of the ball in the short area, i.e., if the ball comes from left to right, shoot towards the left side of the goal. However, this is not a hard and fast rule and there are often exceptions which I shall mention in the upcoming posts.

When you are starting your first game, take your time to adjust to the controls. Aiming on the ball correctly and shooting it towards the goal may not be as easy as it sounds, but believe me, it gets easier the more you play. In your first game, don't focus too much on scoring goals. Instead try and just get the ball to move towards the goal area. After all, you can play each game as many times as you like without any penalty. Once you get the hang of it, you can start scoring goals and winning games!

That's all for today! I hope you have got a good understanding of the game now. I will next focus on each level of World Domination, one by one, so that we can complete the game together! My next article, coming up in a few days' time, will focus on defeating Australia. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to post them in the comments!
